NEW RECORDS RELEASED – Jubilee and Coronation Medal Rolls
In 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. Forces War Records will celebrate this historic milestone with the release of new genealogy records.
Forces War Records is currently transcribing thousands of these new records with further records being added weekly. Some of which are exclusively available online on Forces War Records, about those individuals who were awarded a personal souvenir for their participation in a previous Coronation or Jubilee ceremony.
There is a long history of awarding medals to mark Royal Jubilees and Coronations – the first one was awarded to mark the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1887. These commemorative medals were given to ministers, government officials, mayors, provosts, public servants, local government officers, and members of the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Forces, and Police in Britain, her colonies and Dominions.
Like all other Coronation/Jubilee medals issued after 1887 has been classified as an official medal to be worn after gallantry and campaign medals, but before all decorations and medals for efficiency and long service.

Each record includes a transcript and scanned colour image of the original document for the 1937 Coronation Medal Roll. The amount of information listed in the records may vary, although most results will reveal surname, first name(s), service number, rank, unit, appointments, job title, organisation, awards, and dates. Please be aware that due to the way we collate and cross-reference our databases, some records may contain more or less information than that listed above.

What is a Jubilee?
Many events mark out significant moments in the reign of a monarch. Significant dates include the anniversary of the accession (they day they became Queen or King); the Coronation (the day they were crowned Queen or King); and finally special occasions called Jubilees.
A Royal Jubilee is an occasion to celebrate of the life and reign of a monarch and are significant events which are celebrated around the world. Royal Jubilees only mark significant milestones, making them more special. Each Jubilee has a name, used to reflect a certain length of time:
- Silver Jubilee marking 25 years on the throne
- Ruby Jubilee:40 yrs
- Golden Jubilee: 50 yrs
- Diamond Jubilee: 60 yrs
- Sapphire Jubilee: 65 yrs
- Platinum Jubilee: 70 yrs
